If you're brand new to Lorcana, you only need three things to play your first game:
- A 60-card deck using two of the six ink colours (Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Steel).
- A playmat or a clean table.
- A friend (or a local game store — we can point you to the nearest Lorcana night).
What to buy first
Our Featured Decks page shows the exact cards top players are using today. Each deck has two versions:
- Best — the tournament-winning list, usually NZ$150–$300 to complete.
- Budget — an affordable variant, often under NZ$80.
Pick the one that matches your wallet and you'll be playing within a week.
Learning the rules
Ravensburger publish the official rules for free. We recommend:
- The official Learn-to-Play guide (10 minutes).
- Your first 3 games should be played with no mulligans, no trading, and the full deck face-up on the table. Learn the flow first.
